Every new semester is the same thing for a lot of us uni goers. Raise your hand if you’re guilty of repeatedly promising to be the new improved version of yourself when the new semester rolls around. It sounds a little something like ‘this is going to be MY semester’, ‘I am going to put in so much effort AND RULE THE WORLD’, and lastly, one I find I am constantly kidding myself with, ‘this semester all of my outfits will be on fleek.’
But let’s be real, that’s not always how it goes… so here is your wardrobe journey this semester, reality v expectation style.
First Day of Uni
A particular mention for this one goes out to you first-year students. You are preppy, excited and SO ready to start your #unilyf. You’ve had your outfit picked since the moment you were accepted into your degree, and you know what, anyone who has been at uni longer than a semester ADMIRES you.
While that may be true for first years, anyone else at uni finds it a hard task to stick to… after all, we have just returned from four months of holidays.
You’ll be there 15 minutes early to practice your speech and still look put-together in a nice outfit with your hair done to impress your tutor.
You just make it on time, but you haven’t washed your hair in three days and you have a stain on your trackies.
You planned to keep up the efforts at least this early on in the semester. You’re still getting through the outfits you bought in the summer just for uni and you’re killing it.
Well sadly, life doesn’t work that way. It’s safe to say that by the time Week 4 (and that’s being generous) has arrived, you’re probably already slacking off in the wardrobe department. And when you have to get up at 6am in the dead of winter to make the train in for a 9 am class, I don’t blame you. When you have the option of tight uncomfortable jeans or trackies it’s really a no-brainer. You’re probably sporting a look more like this –
Coffee date catch-ups with your friends
You’re going to catch up with all your uni friends throughout the semester and you’re going to look fabulous while doing it. Your friends are going to be blown away by the standard you’re upholding!
You call your friends last minute and tell them you’re ‘sick’ because you’re up to episode 12 of 13 Reasons Why and there’s no way you’re getting out of bed and putting real clothes on to sit in a cold café at uni.
It’s your last week and you’re so excited for your exams! You have the perfect end of semester outfits planned to go with your super positive attitude!
You’ve literally given up. On everything.
