Artsweek 2017 Murals: Melissa Ya

Mural Motivation:

In my digital illustrative work, I value close attention to detail, geometry and clean lines. Murals are generally worked across large scales, so I wanted to be in less control of the final outcome. There’s no emotional significance or hidden meaning behind the design; at the time I was heavily inspired by tattoo flash drawings (i.e skulls, snakes and hands). To make it less ‘dark’, my intention was to make my mural playful – but still memorable – through patterns and the colour combination of pink and blue.
