7 Things We Learnt During The Premiere of Life of Kylie

Kylie Jenner’s new ‘baby’ Life of Kylie premiered this week and boy were we taken for a ride. The new show which she refers to as a ‘docuseries’ follows Kylie Jenner and her friends as she grows out from under the Kardashian name and starts to face the struggles that we like to call #adulting.

Throughout the episode Kylie actually seems way more down to earth than we ever imagined. The 19-year-old celeb speaks some serious truths that we can all relate to on some level (even if we aren’t all teen squillionaires with millions of Insta followers). Here are seven things we learnt about Kylie that we didn’t know before we watched the show.

She feels pressured to keep up her image and just wants to be ‘normal’

“There is I guess two sides of me: there’s an image that I feel constantly pressured to keep up with in order to like stay relevant for the public I have to be on Instagram and I have to be on Snapchat just keeping people entertained, and then there’s who I really am around my friends, that’s who I want you guys to get to know.”

She even says posting a selfie is “hard because it’s a lot of just pressure. It has to be perfect”. We feel you Kylie, that Instagram life ain’t easy.

She was so devastated about not going to prom, she unfollowed her friends from school

“It was really sad, actually. I had to unfollow all my friends that I went to school with. They probably all thought I hated them.”

What even is a life without going to your prom or formal? We can’t even imagine.

She doesn’t think she’s made for the lifestyle she lives, unlike her peers

“I see Kendall [Jenner] and Bella [Hadid] and Hailey [Baldwin], and they’re just out here, like every day. They just put their outfits together and they’re made for this — which isn’t a bad thing. They look so good every day. Sometimes I wish I could do what they do. But that’s not me.”

We feel for you, Ky, being surrounded by some of the world’s biggest supermodels is bound to be daunting on your self-esteem.

She’s a REAL girl!

She reveals a mishap that took place during a grooming session, “I was shaving my toes and I skinned my little toe like I was peeling a potato”.

The struggle is real.

She is pro-theraphy

“This is like a therapy session, I like it though… I should go to therapy! Write it down because I would love to go to my first therapy session. Yes! I wanna go to therapy!”

Promoting good mental health protocol is a tick in our books!

She maintains her image and her fame for the sake of her true passion – her makeup line

“The only reason why I keep it [the fame] up a little bit is Kylie Cosmetics. But it’s like, so much pressure. I want to grow as a person the way I want to grow, and the path that I want to take,” Kylie says. “All I would do on YouTube when YouTube first came out was look at make-up tutorials and learn how to do my eye shadow. I would be the only 6th grader in like, purple eye shadow. It’s really my only passion — I’ve always known that, but I don’t feel like I’ve realised the extent of it until I launched my own make-up line.”

Girl, we got dreams to – you keep chasing them!

She doesn’t know if she will be able to keep up her high profile life for much longer

“I just feel like this fame thing is gonna come to end sooner than we think. I’m getting the bug again, I just wanna run away. I just don’t know who I’m doing it for,” says Kylie.

We think Kylie sums it all up when she says, “the only different thing about me, or out of the ordinary really, is probably that I have nice things. But what you’ve realised when you get there, when I know I could buy any car, any house, that happiness lasts two seconds, that is not my real happiness, that is not where I find happiness.”

We have to hand it to her; she has definitely changed our perspective on her!
