The 2017 Bachelorette Has Been Announced And We’re All Freaking Out

The moment we have all been waiting for (yep even all of you males who secretly pretend to hate the show but are caught watching re-runs) has finally arrived, perfectly timed during the Logies. It is safe to say that NO ONE. SAW. THIS. COMING! The newest Aussie Bachelorette has been announced. Please welcome to the stage… Sophie freakin’ Monk!

Known for her music career and radio hosting gigs, the familiar Aussie face has Australian Bachelorette followers shook. The open and real Aussie girl seems like the perfect fit for a shot at finding love. Following in the footsteps of success stories like Georgia Love and Sam Wood, we have high hopes for our newest Bachelorette. We can’t wait to see the extravagant dates, the bromances, the tests and trials to come, and of course Osher.

In an interview with The Project, Monk states that it was her mum that pushed her to go for the role of the bachelorette. Monk also complained about never being able to ‘find someone normal.’ Well, it looks like she’s found the perfect place to find a normal relationship… What’s not normal about spending exuberant amounts of money on helicopters, having a camera crew film your every move, and eliminating a bunch of potential suitors by not handing them a rose?

Although we are excited for the next season of the Bachelorette, the news has divided the nation. Is it merely the perfect scheme to re-launch her career? Does she honestly believe that this is the best way to find love? Does she care that she has caused half the nation to have aneurysms? Regardless we are super excited to see the start of Monks new, normal relationships and the hilarious re-caps to follow each ep.

The major shock-factor about Monk becoming the next Bachelorette stems from the fact she doesn’t quite fit that wholesome, girl-next door vibe. Unlike our previous Bachelorettes, Sam Frost and Georgia Love, Monk is quite different. Monk started her career on reality tv, is raw, not afraid to voice how she feels, and starred in a Blink-182 music video (not many people can add that to their resume). The 2017 Bachelorette Has Been Announced and We Are All Freaking Out

Monk perfectly sums up all of our feels in her latest Instagram post when she says, “I’m so excited, but wetting my pants.” Bring it Miss Monk. We can’t wait to see this unfold!
