We all want some love and affection, but is it really worth giving up half your lifestyle? Here are 10 reasons why being single is so great, and a cause for celebration.
You don’t have to spend money on anyone but yourself
No longer do you have to spend your hard-earned cash on a Pandora tiara ring, nor do you have to run out last minute to buy a fragrance that’s half price at Chemist Warehouse.
You don’t have to share food
Devour that KFC Ultimate Box all by yourself.
You decide whether you want to make an effort on your appearance or not
You can decide whether you want to spend the day in bed watching Netflix with food crumbs all over your shirt, OR use the money saved on gifts and dates and TREAT YO’ SELF to some brand new clothes with that sweet student discount.
You can do what YOU want- no more tolerating any of your partner’s boring interests.
Now there’s more time for the things you value – like napping.
You can do whatever the hell you want
Always wanted a pet but couldn’t get one because your partner was allergic? WHO CARES!! ADOPT A CAT!! IT’LL BRING YOU MORE HAPPINESS THAN ANY STUPID RELATIONSHIP WOULD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don’t have to inform anyone of your plans- you just go ahead and do it
You wanna go to Kmart? Go. You wanna go to Paris? Just go.
You don’t have to play mind games with them over text/Snapchat/Instagram
You can be real with yourself, and most of the time that means choosing to go through those hoops while watching How to Get Away with Murder instead of hoops with your partner.
You can freely sneer at all the happy couples on campus
Look at them with their lives together; able to deal with those compulsory 9 am lectures, a billion assignments, and STILL invest time in each other.
You have more time to “study”
Less time spent messing around with your partner is more time spent pretending to do your readings while you quietly change the tab to Netflix/online shop!
You have more time to see your friends
You know, those friends? The ones that told you from the beginning that they hated your new partner?? But dw, they didn’t abandon you (even though you may have slightly abandoned them). They’ll always be there for you, through Netflix, ice-cream binges and all.
