Album of the Week: With Confidence’s “Better Weather” (Blitz Radio)

Better Weather is the pop punk debut from Sydney siders, With Confidence. Since their formation in 2012, the band has played alongside The Getaway Plan, You Me At Six, Tonight Alive, 5 Seconds of Summer and Kids in Glass Houses, just to name a few. In January 2016, the band signed with US label Hopeless Records, and just recently completed 3 months-worth of shows in America on the Vans Warped Tour.

Better Weather is full of upbeat hooks, catchy choruses and motivational lyrics. It is an album guaranteed to put you in a good mood, reminiscent of those pop punk bands you loved back in high school (think – Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, All Time Low). Tracks like Higher, We’ll Be Okay and Keeper are the band’s more commercial songs, so it is not surprising that these were released as singles, as they are undeniably catchy and upbeat.

Tracks like Keys, Long Night and Dinner Bell are a bit more alternative, showing that the band isn’t sticking to the repetitive pop punk format that can be seen in a lot of bands today. Gravity is definitely a standout, with honest lyrics, dynamic guitar riffs and a sing along chorus.

Overall, With Confidence’s Better Weather is a very strong debut – proof that it can only get better from here. Catch With Confidence supporting Motion City Soundtrack on September 8th at Sydney’s Metro Theatre.
